About the GLGBA
The Great Lakes Grand Banks Association (GLGBA) consists of approximately 100 members who own, admire, or simply appreciate Grand Banks cruising yachts. You don't have to own a Grand Banks to become a member. Anyone who appreciates timeless quality and the boating lifestyle is welcome to join. Our association provides a place for social and technical interaction among boating enthusiasts, creating a true “family” atmosphere among Grand Banks owners and admirers. The GLGBA welcomes anyone with an interest in boating. Our membership includes Grand Banks owners, sailboat owners, owners of other motor yachts, former boat owners, and people who are just beginning to look for their first boat.
Grand Banks Yachts
Grand Banks has been building yachts for more than 50 years and is recognized as a well-known name in the trawler and cruising yacht category. While each Grand Banks is unmistakable in appearance, individual boats can have unique interior layouts, equipment, and mechanical features.
Our membership of past, present, and future owners is united by an appreciation for the quality, dependability, and timeless style of these diesel-powered cruising yachts. Members' boats range from approximately 28 to 53 feet in length. Some members have owned Grand Banks yachts for many years, while others are just beginning their search.
GLGBA Events and Activities
The GLGBA organizes several events and activities throughout the year. Our annual cruising rendezvous is usually held in late July or early August, rotating among ports in Canada and the United States on the Great Lakes. The annual membership meeting, including the election of officers and directors, is held during the rendezvous. During the winter and early spring, mini “meet and greets” are organized in Florida, Illinois, and/or Wisconsin. These informal gatherings provide members with an opportunity to meet, socialize, and share their boating experiences.
During the winter months, we also aim to offer two live informational presentations. Topics have included night navigation, boat maintenance, Giving Back recipients, and journeys taken by our members. Presentations are recorded and made available on our website so members can watch them later at their convenience. The GLGBA also publishes a quarterly newsletter covering a variety of boating and association-related topics.
Our Website
Our website is an ever-evolving resource for our members. We continually add information that we hope will be useful to Grand Banks owners and boating enthusiasts. The website also contains an archive of hard-to-find information specifically related to Grand Banks yachts, along with newsletters, presentations, technical information, member resources, and other materials.
