GLGBA Giving Back Program

 

Since 2021, the GLGBA Board has approved donations to non-profit organizations that support the by-laws and philosophy of our Association, some of which include: fostering safe, enjoyable, and knowledgeable boating and promoting environmentally responsible boating. Nominations for the grant must be submitted by a member of our organization on your behalf. If your organization would like to be considered as a possible recipient of the grant, please contact one of our members to submit your application.

Year-round museum that provides interpretive and educational opportunities for current and future generations as well as preserving maritime history of the Greata Lakes.

The goal of the Kenosha Community Sailing Center is to educate Kenosha youth in the sport of sailing while integrating academic, leadership, and life skills.

Recipient of the 2024 Giving Back Grant!
Great Lakes Boat Building School (GLBBS) 
Cedarville, MI


An educational program that started as a hobby school has morphed into a certificate 1 or 2 year program teaching and inspiring the students in the art and craft of traditional and contemporary wooden boat building preparing them for a career in the building or restoration industries.  They also have a propulsion program, power and maintenance. GLBBS has gained affiliation with North Central Michigan College to further add the possibility of an accredited Associates of Bachelors Degree.  These are support trades crucial to our pursuits in GLGBA.

Coast Guard Foundation

 

The Coast Guard Foundation partners with the Coast Guard to provide resources to members and families that build resilience and strengthen the entire community. To support families, bolster unit morale, honor the Coast Guard's mission at the national level, and recognize they risk their lives every day to protect our Country and citizens. This year's donation was even more meaningful because at the time of our donation, there was a matching program which resulted in our donation being tripled.
